On July 26, 2011, at approximately 7:47 p.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to East College Parkway and Bayhead Road for a report of a bicyclist struck.
Investigation indicated that the bicyclist was traveling westbound on East College Parkway when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling westbound on East College Parkway. The 59-year-old male cyclist was struck from behind and thrown to the westbound shoulder of the roadway. The motor vehicle operator failed to stop after the collision and continued traveling westbound on East College Parkway. The cyclist was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment of his injuries.
During the course of this investigation, a witness provided investigators with a photo taken after the bicyclist was struck. The suspect vehicle in this crash is believed to be a late model (2007-2009) Hyundai Elantra with two occupants inside. The vehicle has visible shatter damage to the passenger windshield and to the passenger fog light.
