Baltimore County Police are seeking the public’s assistance in helping them identify the person responsible for the shooting death of a man in Randallstown in 1986.
On May 17, 1986 at 9:59 p.m., Baltimore County Police responded to a home in the 3900 Block of Rayton Road 21133 for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 46-year-old Franklin Blackmon lying in the front yard suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to Baltimore County General Hospital where he was later declared deceased.
The initial investigation into this incident indicated that Franklin Blackmon and his family had just returned home after attending his father’s funeral. Blackmon noticed that there was a light on in the home that should not have been on. He told his wife and children to wait in the car while he checked out the house. When he opened the front door, he shouted, “Get out of my house” and was shot at least once by someone from inside the home.
Homicide detectives conducted a thorough investigation into this incident, but they were not able to develop any information that led to the positive identification of any suspects.
